Big Lakes County Location

Big Lakes County is located in North Central Alberta, Canada. We’re about a 40-min flight or a 2.5-hour drive from Edmonton, Alberta’s capital city. We're home to Lesser Slave Lake, the Swan Hills, and the entrance to the mighty Peace Country. There are abundant natural resources and many outdoor adventures to be had within our 14,000 square kilometres of forests, hills, lakes, and farmland.

More than 18,000 people live within Big Lakes County’s municipal boundaries in independent communities – hamlets, towns, First Nations, Métis Settlements, and acreages and farms. Our county is the size of the country of Lebanon with a diverse and skilled population because of our natural resources harvesting and manufacturing economy.

We’re bold thinkers and we get stuff done. Collaboration is a way of life.

We believe in the rural Alberta advantage. Spend some time with us and you will, too.
